Cloud engineering is more than passing an exam.

BuildRoulette started with a simple observation:

There are a lot of places to learn cloud.

There are courses. Documentation. Certification guides. Tutorials. YouTube videos. And now, AI can explain almost anything you ask it to.

But knowing something and being able to build, troubleshoot, and make decisions with it are two completely different things.

That's what BuildRoulette is about.

It's a place to practice the things that actually make you a better cloud engineer — solving problems, understanding why systems fail, making engineering decisions, preparing for certifications, and challenging yourself to keep learning.

Who's behind it?

A cloud engineer who enjoys building things, breaking things, and figuring out why they broke.

My background spans software engineering, DevOps and cloud infrastructure, and I've spent a lot of time working with AWS, infrastructure as code, CI/CD and production systems.

I've also spent plenty of time being the person who asks:

“Why the hell is this doing that?”

Sometimes the answer is obvious.

Usually, it isn't.

And that's where the interesting engineering happens.

I started BuildRoulette because I wanted a place that reflects how I actually like to learn less memorization, more doing; less “here's what this service does” more “here's a problem, figure it out.”

I'm building this one piece at a time, in public and hopefully building a community of engineers who enjoy the same kind of problems... You can call me General btw
