Terms of Service
Welcome to BuildRoulette. These Terms of Service ("Terms", "Agreement") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you" or "your") and BuildRoulette ("BuildRoulette", "we", "us" or "our"), governing your access to and use of the BuildRoulette platform, including our website, learning modules, cloud challenges, certification preparation CBTs, 100 Days Cloud RoadMap, Architecture Decision Records (EDRs), Path Finder assessments, verifier tools and associated services (collectively, the "Service").
By registering an account, clicking "Join Free", accessing our materials or otherwise using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease all access and use of the Service.
1. Platform Purpose & Educational Scope
BuildRoulette provides an independent educational and diagnostic practice platform for cloud engineers, software developers and systems architects. The Service offers hands-on troubleshooting scenarios, architecture decision case studies, interactive certification practice questions, guided milestone roadmaps and career exploration tools.
All content, verifiers, test cases and architectural recommendations provided on BuildRoulette are intended solely for educational, practice and diagnostic evaluation purposes. BuildRoulette does not provide formal academic degrees, accredited professional certifications or guaranteed career placements.
2. Eligibility & Account Registration
2.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction to create an account. If you are between the ages of 13 and 18, you may use the Service only under the direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms.
2.2 Account Security
To access certain interactive features—such as running challenge verification scripts, recording CBT exam scores, tracking roadmap streaks and claiming milestone awards—you must register an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current and complete registration information.
- Maintain and promptly update your account information.
- Maintain the strict confidentiality of your login credentials and authentication tokens.
- Accept full responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
You must immediately notify BuildRoulette at security@buildroulette.com if you discover or suspect any unauthorized access or security breach involving your account.
3. Hands-On Cloud Challenges & Cloud Cost Allocation
3.1 Personal Cloud Environment
Certain BuildRoulette challenges and roadmap exercises require configuring, provisioning or diagnosing cloud infrastructure directly within your personal or organizational cloud provider accounts (including, but not limited to, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform).
3.2 Cloud Infrastructure Charges & Non-Reimbursement
IMPORTANT CLOUD COST NOTICE: All cloud infrastructure, network traffic, compute cycles, storage volumes and managed services provisioned during BuildRoulette challenges execute directly within your third-party cloud provider account. You are solely and exclusively responsible for all charges, fees, taxes and billing liabilities incurred in your cloud account. BuildRoulette does not pay, sponsor, reimburse or indemnify any cloud infrastructure costs under any circumstances.
3.3 Resource Lifecycle & Teardown
You are solely responsible for deleting, decommissioning and terminating all temporary infrastructure, test resources and diagnostic artifacts upon the completion or abandonment of any challenge. BuildRoulette provides automated verification scripts but does not automatically manage resource teardowns or billing alerts in your cloud provider environment.
4. Challenge Verification & Automated Test Runners
4.1 Scope of Verification
BuildRoulette provides automated verification runners (via browser-based APIs or local CLI verification scripts) that inspect specific endpoints, permissions, policies or resource states to determine whether challenge objectives have been satisfied.
4.2 No Guarantee of Production Readiness
A successful verification result confirms only that the inspected environment satisfied the specific assertions configured for that challenge at the moment of execution. A passing verification result is not an audit, certification or warranty that your architecture is production-ready, highly available, secure against vulnerabilities or compliant with industry regulatory frameworks (such as SOC 2, HIPAA or PCI-DSS).
5. Cloud Authorization & Minimum Privilege Policy
5.1 Principle of Least Privilege
Where verification requires temporary inspection of your cloud resources, BuildRoulette designs verification policies following the principle of least privilege (e.g., read-only metadata inspection).
5.2 Strict Prohibition on Root Credentials
You must never disclose, submit or transmit root account credentials, primary master passwords, private encryption keys or unnecessary administrative privileges to BuildRoulette. CLI verification scripts are designed to execute locally within your authenticated shell environment without transmitting credentials to our servers.
6. Certification Preparation Disclaimers & Trademark Rights
6.1 Original Educational Material
Practice questions, scenario evaluations and mock CBT exams on BuildRoulette are independently authored educational materials designed to test technical concepts, architecture trade-offs and troubleshooting logic.
6.2 No Exam Dumps or Unauthorized Content
BuildRoulette does not publish, distribute or utilize actual confidential examination questions ("brain dumps") obtained from vendor certification examinations. Completing practice CBTs on BuildRoulette does not guarantee a passing score on any official vendor certification exam.
6.3 Third-Party Trademarks
"AWS", "Amazon Web Services" and associated service names (e.g., Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, AWS IAM) are registered trademarks of Amazon Web Services, Inc. or its affiliates. BuildRoulette is an independent entity and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by or partnered with Amazon Web Services, Inc., Google LLC or Microsoft Corporation.
7. Scores, XP, Streaks & Milestone Awards
BuildRoulette incorporates gamification elements, including experience points (XP), daily completion streaks, skill assessment rankings and milestone badges. These achievements:
- Are provided strictly for personal learning motivation and community benchmarking.
- Do not confer any monetary value, property rights or transferable equity.
- May be recalibrated, adjusted or synchronized by BuildRoulette at any time to maintain platform balance and assessment integrity.
8. User Content & Intellectual Property
8.1 User Submissions
You may submit notes, architectural decision records (EDRs), challenge solutions, community feedback and contributor applications ("User Content") through the Service. You retain all ownership rights in your User Content.
8.2 License to BuildRoulette
By submitting User Content, you grant BuildRoulette a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual and transferable license to host, store, display, reproduce, modify and distribute your submitted content as necessary to operate, improve, promote and maintain the Service.
8.3 Submissions Integrity
You warrant that your User Content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, violate non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) or disclose proprietary, confidential or sensitive trade secrets belonging to any employer or third party.
9. Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
You agree not to engage in any of the following prohibited activities:
- Unauthorized Access: Attempting to probe, scan, breach or test the vulnerability of BuildRoulette infrastructure, authentication mechanisms or other users' accounts.
- Abuse & Scraping: Scraping, harvesting, spidering or bulk-extracting user contact data, challenge verifiers or proprietary question databases through automated tools.
- Malicious Payloads: Uploading, linking or distributing malware, viruses, destructive scripts or exploiting educational challenge concepts against unowned systems.
- Assessment Tampering: Artificially manipulating verification endpoints, score leaderboards or streak counters through unauthorized API manipulation.
- Commercial Resale: Reselling, sublicensing, mirroring or repackaging BuildRoulette educational content or CBT exam simulations without prior written authorization.
Violations of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in immediate account suspension, forfeiture of badges and permanent banning from the Service.
10. Privacy & Anti-Scrape Email Protections
Your privacy is paramount to BuildRoulette. Our collection, use and protection of personal data are governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
BuildRoulette enforces strict administrative privacy controls, including anti-scrape email masking across all administrative and public directories to protect builder identities and prevent unauthorized contact harvesting.

13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless BuildRoulette, its officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
- Your access to or use of the Service;
- Your violation of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy;
- Resources, infrastructure or billing charges incurred within your personal cloud account; or
- Any User Content submitted by you that infringes third-party rights.
14. Suspension & Termination
14.1 User Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support or discontinuing use of the Service.
14.2 Administrative Suspension
